The Jen-Ken Double Wall Crucible Glass Kiln delivers impressive capacity for serious glasswork. With its generous 19" x 19" x 20" chamber, this kiln gives you ample space for melting cullet and maintaining consistent gathering temperatures.
Managing your working cycle is straightforward - melt your cullet at 2300°F, bring it down to 1800°F for the squeeze, then adjust to gathering temperature between 2050-2100°F. Between sessions, hold at 1800°F to keep your glass ready. The digital controller makes these transitions smooth and predictable.
The side-firing design makes gathering comfortable, while the double wall construction helps maintain stable temperatures. Just remember - this kiln is made for cullet, not batch glass, to protect your thermocouple and brick from caustic fumes.
QUICK NOTE: Electric Crucible Kilns are designed specifically for melting cullet and are not suitable for making glass from batch, as the caustic fumes produced can cause rapid deterioration of the thermocouple and kiln brick.
Plan to replace your coils every 3-6 months to keep your kiln running at its best. This is normal maintenance for a crucible kiln and helps ensure consistent results in your glasswork.
