When you're ready to fire larger raku pieces—or more of them at once—the Olympic 28 Raku is built for it.
This kiln was designed specifically for raku, with a lift-away chamber that traps heat while giving you quick access to your work. Just turn the hand winch, pull your pieces, and drop them straight into reduction without losing critical temperature.
With 10 cubic feet of space (28¼" wide x 27" deep), it’s ideal for firing large vases, stacked sculpture components, or multiple shelves of lidded jars, bowls, and teapots all in one go.
And it’s not just for raku—you can also fire to Cone 10 in oxidation or reduction, depending on your setup and firing goals.
Four venturi burners and 280,000 BTUs/hour provide serious heating power, getting you to temp quickly and holding it steady through the entire firing.
The ignition system lights all burners from a single point and will re-ignite any flame that goes out. A built-in thermocouple shut-off cuts off gas if all flames are lost.
The 28 Raku uses approximately 12 gallons of propane per Cone 10 firing—Olympic recommends using a tank larger than 12 gallons to maintain proper pressure and avoid freeze-up during longer cycles.
