Looking for gas kiln results without committing to a permanent install? The Olympic 1827G gives you all the flexibility of propane or natural gas firing—plus the ability to adjust for oxidation, reduction, and raku—all in a compact, portable build.
This kiln fires to Cone 10 with consistent heat, a smooth flame path, and safety features designed for peace of mind.
Its 3.95 cubic foot chamber (17½" x 27") offers enough room for small batch production—great for studios, teaching spaces, or anyone firing functional ware at home or outside.
Load up a shelf of espresso cups and batter bowls above a set of ramen bowls with matching chopstick rests, or fire lidded jars, mugs, and small sculptures across stacked shelves.
With two venturi burners delivering 120,000 BTU/hr, you’ll get fast, even heating that holds steady through any cycle.
The ignition system lights both burners from a single point and will re-ignite them if needed. A thermocouple shut-off stops gas flow automatically if the flame is lost.
The 1827G uses around 5 gallons of propane for a full Cone 10 firing—but Olympic recommends using a tank larger than 5 gallons to prevent freeze-up and ensure consistent pressure, especially in cooler weather.
