Need a kiln that can handle large batches without slowing you down? The Olympic 2831G Torchbearer is built for potters who need volume, reliability, and firing flexibility—whether you're working with stoneware, porcelain, or chasing raku finishes. Fire up to Cone 10 with confidence using propane or natural gas, and easily adjust for oxidation, reduction, or raku cycles depending on your firing goals.
This kiln offers 11.67 cubic feet of usable space in a 28¼" x 31½" chamber—plenty of room for high-volume production. Think: stacks of batter bowls with serving platters, large sculptures, or full shelves of matching teapots and tumblers. With four venturi burners and 280,000 BTUs/hour, it climbs to temperature quickly and holds it steady, even during reduction.
You get a one-touch ignition system that lights all burners at once and automatically relights if needed. If the flame is lost, a thermocouple shut-off kicks in for safety.
The 2831G uses around 15 gallons of propane per Cone 10 firing, so you’ll need a tank that can keep up. While 15 gallons is the minimum fuel requirement, Olympic recommends using a larger tank whenever possible to avoid flame-outs or underfiring. Smaller tanks tend to freeze up during high-BTU firings, especially in colder weather. A 30-gallon or larger propane tank gives you the fuel capacity and pressure stability needed for smooth, consistent firing to temperature.
